Hi Guys! Welcome to my blog!
This has been a long time coming but I’m not great at the whole technology thing! It took me longer than it should have to figure out “how to blog”
But anyway… Hello! My name is Sawyer Shane! I’m 25 years old. I was born and raised in Berne Indiana! I grew up in a country home with my 2 sisters (Carson and Lily), my brother (Brody) and my parents (Travis and Stephanie). I would describe my childhood as most would say pretty normal! But I would say it was anything but. My family unlike many others in the world is super close. I still kiss all of my family members (grandparents, parents, siblings, cousins). Many of you reading this might think ewwww, but to me it’s how we show love. Growing up to me looked like …
In the summer… every Sunday night the cousins, siblings and I would camp out in the trampoline tent at my parents. Every single Monday we would have pond parties and watch extreme makeover while eating mac and cheese for lunch. Other days we would spend all day at Momo and Popos (our grandparents) playing in our playhouse we created in the barn. We would spend hours exploring the barns and old rock pile behind their house.
During the school year it looked a little different… There was play time after our long bus ride home. Weather it was warm out or snowing we were always outside playing. Mom would have to call us in for supper almost every day! After supper Momma would sit at the kitchen table with us and help us with our homework. Once our homework was done Daddy would be waiting in the living room ready to play with us! And every Saturday we would be back at Momo and Popos for either Saturday morning breakfast at Hardees with Momo with Walmart shopping afterward, or Saturday night dinner with the entire family.
So some may read all of that and think… Sound pretty normal to me. Well from the outside it may be completely normal. But for me it didn’t seem so normal. When I had friends who only lived with their mom, who never hung out with their cousins and rarely saw their grandparents, it always made me feel like I was lucky. Instead of 3 siblings it was more like I had 7. Even now that we are older and a lot of them have kids.. We still get together at Momos and Popos at least once a month if not a lot more.
If your still with me.. which I hope you are.. thanks for sticking through that! Now that you know a little bit of how I grew up I’m going to give you a list of random facts about myself. Here we go..
- I have one foot that is almost ½ a size smaller than the other
- I don’t drink pop
- Even though I’m 5’8” I have thee shortest torso known to man
- I got my 2 vampire teeth before any others
- I didn’t get hair until I was 2 (completely bald)
- But by kindergarten my hair was half way down my back
- I do a weird half smile thing that I don’t even realize I’m doing
- My siblings discovered this for me
- At kindergarten graduation they asked what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said I wanted to be a mommy just like my momma. And to this day that is still true.
- I have a weird obsession with pickles, olives, cheese, and slim jims
- I have a thumb like looks like a toe
- I’ve always been envious of how pretty my sisters are
- My dad is my favorite man in my life
- I wish I could live in sweats
- I love to travel (but don’t as often as I’d like)
- I once drove from Indiana to California
Now I feel like I should give you guys a little bit of my photography background… since this indeed will be a photography blog! My parents got me my first DSLR camera for Christmas when I was 13. I had no clue how to use it, I for the most part taught myself. I used my siblings and other family members for practice! My brother was always my best model! I mostly did it as a hobby…. fast forward a few long years haha…until I stumbled across a free facebook class. After watching that one hour class, I thought maybe I can do this for a living! I googled the course instructors and found out that they had more classes! I saved up money to buy one of their courses and ever since then the ball has been rolling! I went on to buy two more of their courses and they CHANGED my life! In just the first year of starting this business I booked 10 weddings and 20+ other misc. sessions! Since then I have been working on all the parts of the business that I didn’t even know existed.
If you’ve made it this far … Thank you so much for reading! In the future I will be blogging about my sessions and weddings. But I also will do some personal stuff as well! So I hope you follow along on this photography journey as it is only the beginning!
